Brian Blatchford

Brian lives in Perth, Western Australia and is a descendent of the Yamatji People through his Mother’s family.

With a background in Graffiti Street Art, many of his earlier works have been large scale aerosol murals at local skate parks and private commission walls. Armed with a few boxes of spray paint, Brian has facilitated and supported Urban Art Workshops with local youths all across Perth.

Since losing a cousin to suicide in 2010, Brian’s artwork has drawn from his family culture to incorporate more indigenous elements and techniques. Many of his paintings depict Australian animals, scenes, patterns and burst with non-traditional colours.

Brian likes to push the boundaries of Aboriginal Art and hopes to inspire young people to represent their culture in a positive way.
